Favorite Horror Movie(s) Empty

1. Evil Dead

-Got Picked because it's the only horror movie that I've ever seen that I can't watch it and eat at the same time and it's just a little bit older then I am and was made on a tiny budget. Says a lot about modern Hollywood gore effects, doesn't it? Also picked because it's very revolutionary (the camera angle over the water at the beginning is epic and very classic). And even though it's very hard to scare me, I did find the movie to be very creepy. As for the others in the series, I didn't like ED2 as much as ED1 (no where near as scary and I can eat and watch it at the same time...just doesn't have the same feel as the first one, which is fine, as 2 seems more of a comedy-horror) and Army of Darkness is about as scary as Harry Potter (it's action-adventure/comedy).

2. Alien

-My favorite Alien movie. I like how they don't show the monster fully until toward the end. I also like the Pilot stuff (my favorite mystery in that entire series). And unlike the other Aliens movies, Alien was actually creepy. I have Aliens, but it just doesn't have the charm the first one has.

3. Session 9

-If you like Silent Hill, then this is the movie to see, as it does Silent Hill better then the Silent Hill movie did. And it also contains David Caruso's finest acting (namely there is a scene later in the movie that is, I dare say, him at his most expressive, lol).

4. The Bunker

-The only person in this movie I knew was Jack Davenport (ie- Norrington from the Pirates of the Caribbean series). I bought it because the DVD artwork looked cool and he was in it. I like it because it's yet another movie that leaves the 'evil' up to your imagination. Those sort of movies have more legroom with me, because I like that I can think whatever I want of the evil instead of having everything told to me.

5. In Dreams

-This movie is a creepy movie. It's not got as much "horror" as other movies, but it's more of a psych-horror movie. It also incidentally was the movie that got me past the summer of 2003, which is why I also own the book this was based on. One of my favorite movies. Also has a great cast in the persons of Annette Benning, Aidan Quinn, Robert Downey Jr and Stephen Rea. It also has Paul "Captain Brass" Guilfoyle in it, too, though he has a relatively minor role.

====================================

It's odd how when I was younger, I used to loathe Roger Corman movies. Stupid low budget crap and yet almost all the horror movies I tend to end up liking are...low budget. I'm thinking I should give some of his movies another spin, as I might actually like them this time. On my "to-see" list is a low budget movie Bruce Campbell did called "Terminal Invasion." Saw some parts of it on YT and it looked interesting. I'd also like to see "The Man With the Screaming Brain." "Alien Apocalypse" I will steer clear of, tho >_>

The newest ones (The Bunker and Session 9) are from 2001, so that might be why you've not heard of any of them. In Dreams is from 1999, Alien is from 1979 and Evil Dead was released in '81, tho was filmed back in '79, with a little filming done in January 1980 as well to finish the shoot.

Actually LM, neither am I. In fact that I love the ED movies is amazing, because I'm not into the gore movies (never been interested in SAW, especially since the first one is ruined for me since I know who plays Jigsaw...how did I know Comcast On Demand was going to spoil the movie for me?). Those movies I listed are practically the ONLY horror movies I like (I hated the Dawn of the Dead remake, which I do own...the only part of it I liked was the newcast in the EXTRAS section of the DVD, no kidding...).

I like the Scream Trilogy, but I feel like they're more for people who aren't into horror movies (not to mention, to specifically classify them, they're Slasher flicks...I kinda prefer supernatural bits to my horror movies, which Scream does not have...the only other Slasher show I can say I liked was Shocker, which had a supernatural element to it anyway...and don't worry if you've never heard of that one...I'm surprised when I see it on Encore, lol). I watched Jason movies when I was younger, but I prefer my horror movie to have somewhat of a story (which Jason in Manhattan does not have) and never got into Freddy, though his TV show was creepy when I was a kid (yeah, I watched that stuff when I was a kid, lol...my parents knew I wouldn't grow up to be a mass murderer).

BTW, this is the scariest song ever put in a horror movie:

1)A Nightmare on Elm street.

Scared the shit out of me when I was twelve and was resposeable for many sleepless nights. I have the whole movie series and I hope the Remake will be just as scary.

2)Childs Play

Fatally wounded by a cop, serial killer Charles Lee Ray Transfers his spirit into a Good Guy doll, And that's when the Mayham begins.

3)The Puppet Master

It's about Evil wooden puppets. Probably not that well known. Distributed by Full Moon Entertainment in 1989, there have been nine films made with a tenth movie being made. But I recomend only watching 1-3. They are the best ones. Anything made after that is not very good. Here are the trailers:

4)Friday 13th Part 6: Jason Lives.

Out of all of the Friday 13th films this one is my favorite. After being killed in part four, and impersonated in part five, Jason Retuns from the Grave Stronger than ever.
